There were some very good points made here. Without an informed and politically active citizenry, this country cannot and will not function as it was intended to function, because under the Constitution of the United States of America, “We the people” are the true governing body. If our opinions and beliefs are not voiced, corrupt politicians can radically change the system of values and principles upon which this country was founded, and before we know it, the America we know and love will be no more. “WE THE PEOPLE” have a duty to let our voices be heard far and wide, for that is the only way for democracy to truly work.

Yes, and as time goes on, the economy is moving further and further in the positive direction. Though the influence of corporations in politics hasn’t been necessarily ALL bad — every group DOES need representation — there has been a loss of balance. Most citizens feel that the government is too big to represent their own interests. This is something that we’re working here at PolitVote to correct.

I’ve read his “Essay on Man”, which WAS pretty interesting. He seemed to have a positive attitude on government, man, and his search for truth.

Still, I’ve often wondered if his ideas really could be put into real effect. I think if you combine Locke with Machiavelli you have a more realistic view of what the role of government/authority really can be.

You ought to read some of the philosophy of John Locke, who was the first to publish, “…that all mankind is endowed with certain inalienable rights, those being, life, liberty and the pursuit of property.” He wrote two treatises on government that changed the world.

Nick great read, as you know the party system the republicans have been against goverment control, the democrats have been for more government regulation. Many years ago I read and article that said the third world power would be international corporations. With out government control there is no group that stop such unlimited power, we are left at the mercy of there honesty. I have seen what the last eight years of ruthless abuse they have infilicted upon the world, they have openly stated the world can no longer afford a middle class the carbon footprint is to big. we have seen the biggest drain of wealth from middle class to the wealthy in the history of our country. we seen corporations merge to the point we cannot allow them to fail. Can we recover from this re pression we can and we will because we are america. STAPP
