1 “Land of Opportunity”
The number one reason that the American economy can recover – if we let it – is not based in statistics, numbers, or other data; like the concepts of “freedom” and “equality”, the number one reason that the American can recover is because of an ideal – the ideal that Americans (and a great deal of the world) still look upon the United States as the “land of opportunity”.
How does this help? In an American mind, there are few concepts of personal limitation – the ability of an American citizen to rise from poverty to power; the concept of movement, progress, opportunity; the American dream – these ideals are ingrained into the heart and soul of every citizen. We simply don’t understand the meaning of the word “can’t”. We believe that we are endowed with “certain inalienable rights, among them the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” This “pursuit of happiness” is our goal, and consciously or unconsciously, we are working as a people to achieve it.
As we continue to look at this land as a place where dreams can be achieved, it will continue to be such a place. The sheer weight of that belief, combined with the other reasons we have mentioned here, will shape reality as it has before. Pathways will open, new technologies and systems will emerge, and the American people will find a way to let this recovery take place. We are the land of opportunity because we have chosen to be. It is only when we choose fear that we will lose that dream.

Nick great read, as you know the party system the republicans have been against goverment control, the democrats have been for more government regulation. Many years ago I read and article that said the third world power would be international corporations. With out government control there is no group that stop such unlimited power, we are left at the mercy of there honesty. I have seen what the last eight years of ruthless abuse they have infilicted upon the world, they have openly stated the world can no longer afford a middle class the carbon footprint is to big. we have seen the biggest drain of wealth from middle class to the wealthy in the history of our country. we seen corporations merge to the point we cannot allow them to fail. Can we recover from this re pression we can and we will because we are america. STAPP
Yes, and as time goes on, the economy is moving further and further in the positive direction. Though the influence of corporations in politics hasn’t been necessarily ALL bad — every group DOES need representation — there has been a loss of balance. Most citizens feel that the government is too big to represent their own interests. This is something that we’re working here at PolitVote to correct.
